Montes Alpha Dry Farmed Wines

Dry Farmed Wines After more than five years of research and testing in our Apalta and Marchigüe vineyards in the Colchagua Valley, we now know how the different soils and grape varieties react to water stress.

Under our "Sustainable Dry Farming" system, we don’t irrigate, stressing the vines and considerably increasing the quality of the wine by enhanced fruit expression and color. However, if the growing season is unusually warm and dry, we have to irrigate.

Then, watering is only at the minimum level. This sustainability initiative has allowed us to reduce our water consumption by 65%, equivalent to the average annual water needs of 20,000 people in a full year.
